Party of Three

I love maternity sessions. They're full of anticipation, excitement, and dreams of the future. However, my favorite maternity sessions are hands down the ones that earmark the beginning of the "Party of Three".

Mom and Dad are the perfect mixture of excitement, anticipation, and uncertainty in the best way possible. They've heard birth stories from family and friends… some inspiring and some terrifying. They've began putting finishing touches on the nursery. All the gifts from the baby shower are intentionally tucked into place. The hospital bag is packed. The car seat installed. The calm before the most beautiful storm.

What makes these sessions extraordinary and all the more beautiful is just how "no questions asked" Mom and Dad are as they await the arrival of their beautiful blessing. What a pure, unconditional place to be as a couple. Carnicia's and Jeremy's maternity session was full of those moments of unconditionalness. Jeremy holding Carnicia's hand as they walked through the fields ensuring she was balanced. I witnessed the two of them laugh together as they took turns guessing who they think Baby Knox would most look like. They shared their birth plan and what they hope would happen. I heard their dreams of the future and the excitement of the little league games to come. The beginning of the next chapter of their lives, jumping into the unknown together, anticipating, becoming a party of three.
