Harris Family Session in Downtown Madison, Georgia
If you are a fan of the Netflix series Sweet Magnolias then this location may look very familiar. This park is where the big scavenger hunt episode was filmed. While this park is known to many across the world as being located in the fictional town of Serenity, it can be visited in the beautiful town of Madison, Georgia.
It was such a joy to meet up with the Harris family in Madison last Winter to capture their annual family photos. This sweet family has been such huge supporters of my photography business since the very beginning. In fact, I met Amber and her oldest son Will when he was just two years-old. To have a front-row seat to their growing family and milestones is one of the greatest privileges I’ve had as their photographer. Thank you so much Harris family for inviting me into your lives over and over again, it truly means the world.
Now y’all… last Winter’s session with them was the definition of true Georgia weather. The forecast showed it would be a chilly sunny Saturday in January. What it failed to mention, however, was just how windy it would be. I knew because of the wind, and because these were being taken mid- morning, I’d have to think strategically on where and how to pose their family. We utilized the pavilion stage area for a large portion of their session for a few reasons:
The pillars were able to block the wind which allowed for posed photos without concerns of hair being blown in their faces.
The pavilion’s roof provided the perfect amount of shade to block the harsh and bright mid-morning sun.
The concrete and white pillars served as natural reflectors allowing for light to bounce back onto their faces creating a beautiful glow.
The stage was a large flat surface which provided ample space for kids to be kids. We were able to play Red Light, Green Light and Ring Around the Rosie to capture fun action shots.
Thank you Amber, Blake, and your three beautiful kiddos for joining me to capture your family once again! I cannot wait to see y’all again soon and to hear about your newest adventures and milestones.
