Welcome Home Baby Hallie
I am always thankful for the opportunity to be invited into a client’s home. I do not take it lightly as it is where you are most yourself. You’ve taken off the mask you wear to the outside world and show up authentically and vulnerably. If we are being really honest, parenthood is a constant walk full of vulnerability, especially for first time parents. You’re full of expectations on what and how you should be doing things, experiencing constant internal battles of second guessing and what-ifs, and yet all those feelings and experiences are simultaneously met with an indescribable amount of love for this tiny and perfect little human - and that’s where the magic is.
As your newborn photographer I promise I will meet you where you are. I want to hear your birth story, what went according to plan, what was difficult, and how you are feeling. I want to hear how you’re adjusting to life at home. I want to hear how your other kiddos or your pets reacted to their new sibling. I want to hear about your sleep schedule. I want to hear about the different bottle brands you tested out, the diapers you’re preferring, and if your baby is taking a pacifier. I want to hear it all and I want you to know that I am soaking in every detail with you.
During the Gibby’s session we followed Hallie’s cues and pressed pause when needed so they could make her most comfy. These pauses are where the tenderest of moments happen, the magic of parenthood. Mom and Dad took turns rocking their daughter to sleep and giving her sweet butterfly kisses. They paused for feedings that would drift her right back off to sleep. They took turns sharing their story and how they were doing; and I got to be part of one of the many slow Saturday mornings they’ll get to spend together as a party of three. A magical, slow Saturday morning.
To the Gibby family, thank you for welcoming me into your home to capture baby Hallie's newborn photos. Thank you for taking your masks off, being vulnerable, and for giving me a front row seat to the magic. I cannot wait to see who Hallie grows up to be and to continue to watch the two of you take on parenthood together.
